Would you Pay $42 per Month for ChatGPT Premium?
It was just a matter of time until OpenAI capitalized on the free ChatGPT success, which has taken the world by storm since its launch late last year. We've seen the tool's adaptability, as it has deceived scientific reviewers, arranged an Event, and even passed an entrance exam at a prestigious college.
The poll and waitlist that OpenAI delivered to its users earlier this month serve as more proof of the company's prior interest in a commercial version of the chatbot. The firm issued the poll to users of its Discord server with the message, "We're starting to think about ways to monetize ChatGPT (early thoughts, nothing formal to disclose yet)," according to The Verge.
The questionnaire included inquiries like:
- What amount (per month) would you consider ChatGPT to be priced at a level where you would believe the service's caliber couldn't be very high?
- What would you consider the ChatGPT beginning pricing (per month), at which point purchasing it would still be an option but require some consideration?
- What amount (per month) would you deem ChatGPT to be a fantastic buy—a great value?
Based on the feedback solicited, OpenAI appears to have decided on a pricing of $42 a month for the premium edition of ChatGPT. A contract between OpenAI and Microsoft is also generating some income, which will probably help Bing, the company's search engine, perform better. Semafor stated that the investment may be as high as $10 billion.
